On July 1, 2026, the EU's MiCA law stops being a slow rollout and becomes a hard, enforced rule across all 27 countries. No more grace period, no extensions.

After that date, any platform serving EU clients without a license is breaking the law and has to stop. Some exchanges are fine. Others will restrict EU users, quietly exit, or be forced to wind down.

We've seen the preview already: Tether never applied, so Coinbase, Binance, Kraken and Crypto.com pulled USDT for European users back in early 2025; some auto-converting balances, some briefly freezing funds.

The move before July 1 is simple: check your exchange is licensed, check your stablecoin is still supported on EU venues, and don't leave assets parked somewhere that might be shutting down.
